SHE Builds

SHE Builds

SHE Builds is an innovative initiative that aims to provide hands-on skills training to young girls in the local manufacturing industry, with a specific focus on digital fabrication. The primary goal of the project is to equip these girls with practical skills while also encouraging more women to enter and thrive in the manufacturing sector.

Objective

The main objective of Project SHE Builds is to bridge the gender gap in the manufacturing industry by empowering young girls with skills and knowledge in digital fabrication. The project recognizes that women are significantly underrepresented in this sector, often due to cultural, social, and educational barriers. By providing hands-on training, SHE Builds aims to break down these barriers and create opportunities for girls to pursue careers in manufacturing, thereby promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.

SDG 4- Quality education

SHE Builds contributes to quality education by providing practical, hands-on training to girls. This training helps develop their technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity. By focusing on digital fabrication, the project aligns with the need to provide education that is relevant to the changing job market and technological advancements, ensuring that girls have access to quality training that prepares them for the future world of work.

SDG 5 - Gender Equality

By actively encouraging girls to enter the manufacturing industry, Project SHE Builds challenges traditional gender roles and stereotypes. Through the acquisition of practical skills, young girls gain confidence, self-esteem, and the ability to challenge societal norms that limit their choices and opportunities. By increasing the representation of women in the manufacturing industry, the project contributes to creating more inclusive and diverse workplaces.

SHE Builds cohort 2 Graduation

Through Global Youth Mobilization, we managed to train 40 young women in partnership with Winam Fablab.
The project's emphasis on digital fabrication reflects its commitment to equipping girls with relevant and future-oriented skills. Digital fabrication combines computer-aided design (CAD), 3D printing, laser cutting, and other technologies to create innovative and customizable products. By training girls in these advanced manufacturing techniques, Project SHE Builds ensures that they are prepared for the demands of the modern industry and are equipped to participate in the growing digital economy.
