Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights

(In-school and Out-of-school Dialogues)

Program Details

This program is dedicated to educating and empowering young people on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and their rights. Its main objective is to provide comprehensive and age-appropriate information through in-school and out-of-school dialogues.

In-school dialogues involve workshops and interactive sessions conducted within educational institutions. These sessions cover various topics such as puberty, safe sex, contraception, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), consent, and healthy relationships. Trained facilitators create a safe space for students to ask questions and receive accurate information.

Objectives

Education and Empowerment

The program aims to educate and empower young people by providing them with comprehensive and age-appropriate information about sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and their rights. It seeks to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions, promote healthy relationships, and protect their sexual and reproductive well-being.

Inclusivity and Accessibility

The program aims to ensure that young people, regardless of their educational status, have access to SRH information and resources. It conducts in-school dialogues to reach students within educational institutions and out-of-school dialogues in various community settings. By extending its reach beyond formal education, the program aims to reach marginalized and vulnerable youth who may have dropped out of school or have limited access to SRH information.

Safe and supportive spaces

The program creates safe and supportive spaces for young people to engage in dialogue and ask questions about SRH. It provides a platform where they can openly discuss topics such as puberty, safe sex, contraception, STIs, consent, and healthy relationships. By fostering open and non-judgmental discussions, the program aims to address misconceptions, challenge stigmas, and promote positive attitudes towards SRH.

Menstrual Health Empowerment

The active project within the program, Kuza Nia, focuses on empowering young people on menstrual hygiene and SRH. It aims to break the silence surrounding menstruation, provide accurate information, and ensure access to menstrual hygiene products. By addressing menstrual health, the program aims to improve young individuals' overall well-being and enable them to manage their menstrual hygiene effectively.

Out of school dialogues

Out-of-school dialogues aim to reach youth who may have dropped out of school or are not currently enrolled. These dialogues take place in community centers, youth clubs, Chief camps, churches, and other accessible venues. By extending the program's reach beyond formal educational settings, it ensures that young people, regardless of their educational status, have access to vital knowledge about SRH and their rights.
